Rona Finlayson from the Mission to Seafarers came and talked to us bringing home just what a life serving on ships, bringing our food and clothes to us, is like and what they are able to do for the sailors. The sailors are away from their families for months at a time with poor wages. One girl whose father died while she was on board didn’t take the opportunity to go to the funeral because her family needed her wages. The mission was able to arrange for a father and son working on different ships to meet briefly otherwise they wouldn’t have seen each other for a year. A hard life that they do because they need the money for their families to exist.
