FORMATION

Holy Trinity is part of the Eco-Congregation Scotland movement that aims to connect environmental concerns with Christian faith, diminish environmental impact, and engage with the community. We are addressing environmental issues through spiritual life, practical action, and global living.  We have been emphasising the care of creation through prayer, worship, and practical activities like maintaining gardens.

Following the Diocesan Synod in 2021 and the SEC pledge to become carbon neutral by 2030, Holy Trinity set up an Eco group to explore what we could do as a church to lesson our carbon footprint.

The initial focus was on things we felt we could easily do, as well as gathering information for more longer-term projects that would involve financial commitment.

Core Aims

We are raising awareness of environmental issues and the importance of sustainable living, focusing on climate change issues and ways to mitigate its impact.

We have considered waste reduction and recycling, implementing, and promoting waste reduction and recycling initiatives.

The Eco group supports fair trade by using fair trade products, and we encourage the use of sustainable and ethically sourced products.

Other initiatives relate to energy efficiency in our church buildings leading to improvements and encouraging sustainable practices in the Church, Trinity Centre (TC) and Rectory.
