Prayer Pointers for June 2023

written by Richard Bland
Week Beginning: Sunday 4th June – The Trinity

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” (Mtt 28:19)

Give thanks to God the Creator and Father of all – for the blessings God gives, the beautiful world we live in, for the Love which is ever faithful

Give thanks to Jesus who came and shared this earthly home with us. May we ever tread in his footsteps

Give thanks to the Spirit who is present between us and who inspires us to relate and connect

We thank you, God, that you are One in Three and Three in One

Week Beginning: Sunday 11th June – Food and Sustenance

“Then Jesus declared, `I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.’” (John 6:35)

Pray for those who grow our food, who manufacture it and sell it to us

Pray that we may make good choices in our food… that we may stay healthy

Pray for those who today will be hungry. We pray that Your justice may come upon all the earth

Lord hear us, Lord graciously hear us

Week Beginning: Sunday 18th June – Parents

“Children are a heritage from the LORD, offspring a reward from him” (Psalm 127:3)

Give thanks for the male role models we have in our lives; for their care and love; that through them we may learn more of Your love

Pray for parents who find their responsibilities difficult to carry

Rise up men and women to help them in their particular need

Pray for children who find life a struggle; those who are lonely and abused. Pray that Your Love may infuse all relationships

Lord, in your mercy … hear our prayer

Week Beginning: Sunday 25th June – Holidays and Fun

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10b)

Pray for those who are on holiday; for those who will visit Haddington and the surrounding villages

Help us to welcome stranger and friend alike in Your name

Pray for those who have to continue to work without respite. May they rest in Your love

Lord, be our welcome and guide
